Online Training Program Option: $175 for 26 weeks of membership ($250 after June 9)
In-Person Training Program Option: $300 for 26 weeks of membership ($350 after June 9). In-person training is offered in Sacramento, Davis, and Elk Grove, CA.
All First-Timers have access to the online First-Timer community, regardless of what training program they select.

The First-Timer Program provides new marathoners with a robust support system throughout the training process and during race weekend.

All first-timer applicants who apply will be accepted into the program. You MUST register through the link on this page to join the CIM First-Timer Program. The First-Timer Program begins June 10. The deadline to join the First-Timer Program is August 31, 2024.

WHO CAN JOIN

All athletes who will be participating in the marathon distance for the first time at the California International Marathon are welcome to enroll in the CIM First-Timer Program. Whether you are new to running, or have been logging miles for years, the First-Timer Program is the "inside track" to success in your first marathon!

HOW IT WORKS, STEP-BY-STEP

• Register: Use the registration button at the top of the page to sign up, or click here. To participate in the CIM First-Timer Program, YOU MUST USE THE REGISTRATION LINK ON THIS PAGE to sign up for the CIM First-Timer Program. Registering for the Official CIM Training Program will not give you access to the CIM First-Timer Program, but registering for the CIM First-Timer Program will give you access to the Official CIM Training Program. The Official CIM Training Program is one of many features provided by the CIM First-Timer Program.
• Training Program: In registration, you'll select your preferences for the Official CIM Training Program (in-person or online).
• Info email: Once you're signed up, you'll receive an email packed full of information about the program, including access to your training plan, an invite to the CIM First-Timer Program online community, and more.
• Info session: In late May or early June, you'll receive an email with information about a live preseason information session hosted by your coaches.
• Season begins: The Official CIM Training Program begins the week of June 10. You'll receive your training plan on or before June 10. If you're training in-person, your first practices will take place the week of June 10. If you're training online, your coach will start communicating with you the week of June 10. The onine First-Timer community will also open on June 10.
• Weekly newsletters: Every Monday, beginning Monday, June 10, you'll receive an email newsletter with content related to marathon training: blog posts, videos, and more.
• Webinars: Throughout the season, you'll have access to online and in-person marathon training seminars hosted by Fleet Feet coaches, sports medicine providers, and other experts.
• Race weekend info: A few weeks before race day, you'll receive an email with information about race weekend amenities, which include a private shuttle to the start line and a private start line warming tent.
• Help Desk: If you have any questions about the CIM First-Timer Program, email sactraining@fleetfeet.com.

PROGRAM INCLUDES:

• Entry into the Official CIM Training Program. The training program provides a 26-week daily training plan and expert coaching every step of the way.

• Access to an online community of CIM First Timers, supported by Fleet Feet coaches.
• Seminars hosted by Fleet Feet's staff of USATF Certified Marathon Specialists. Topics include training tips, fueling, recovery, race strategy, and more.
